Who Can Benefit From HRT?

Women Experiencing Menopausal Symptoms

Menopausal symptoms can disrupt your sleeping and waking life. If you’re experiencing common menopausal symptoms like moderate to severe hot flashes or night sweats, then HRT could be the right treatment for you. HRT can provide relief from these troublesome and frustrating symptoms. Unlike treatments that mask or dull menopausal symptoms, HRT treats their cause.

Women Experiencing Early Menopause

Most women experience menopause around the age of 51. Others stop having a period when they’re 45 or younger. If you’re experiencing premature menopause, then HRT could be the right treatment to support your body and prevent common menopausal symptoms.

Women with Estrogen Deficiency

HRT, specifically estrogen replacement therapy, can protect against a bone disease called osteoporosis. If you’re at risk of bone loss or fractures or you’re estrogen-deficient, then HRT may be a recommended medical treatment for you.

The Added Benefits of HRT

Beyond relieving the symptoms listed above, there are several added benefits of HRT medications.

  • HRT reduces the risk of diabetes – taking HRT before or during menopause can prevent the development of diabetes.

  • HRT reduces the risk of osteoporosis- hormone replacement therapy can reduce the risk of osteoporosis by preventing bone density loss and reducing the risk of fractures.

  • HRT reduces the risk of bowel cancer- there is evidence to support a reduced risk of colorectal cancer when a woman takes HRT.

  • HRT reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease- When used around menopause, HRT can reduce cardiovascular disease markers.

  • What is TRT?
TRT ultimately makes up for the T that isn’t being produced by your body. TRT treatment can assist men who have low blood concentrations of testosterone and clinical deficiency symptoms. The clinical term for low T is ‘hypogonadism’, which is diagnosed by when the testes do not produce enough testosterone.
  • Am I suitable for TRT?
Our team can help you to determine your eligibility for testosterone therapy. We’ll conduct a comprehensive assessment that considers your free and total testosterone levels.
  • How long on TRT will I see results?
Most patients see the benefits of T in three to six weeks. For a personalized treatment timeline, contact our clinic.
  • What is HCG, and why is it important?"
HCG acts like a luteinizing hormone, which stimulates Leydig cells in the testicles, resulting in T production. HCG is prescribed and has been proven to maintain testicular size and function while men are on testosterone replacement. HCG stimulates the testes to produce testosterone and estrogen and is a key component of any well-managed testosterone replacement therapy plan. Testosterone production is normally stimulated by hormones in the brain, well while one is taking testosterone replacement that stimulation stops. For the testes to maintain function while on testosterone replacement HCG is a must!
  • Is TRT a treatment for andropause?
Yes. Andropause, also referred to as the ‘male menopause,’ is defined by symptoms caused by low T. TRT is, therefore, an effective treatment for andropause. To find out whether it’s right for you, book an appointment with Dr. Okojie.
